The island of Pemba is part of theZanzibar archipelago. It is the second largest island in the archipelago after Unguja.
If you are looking for some peace and quiet for a few days away from the madness of Zanzibar (Unguja), I recommend you to take a plane or boat ticket to Pemba. There you will have the opportunity to visit this small island and its magnificent beaches.
However, be aware that there is not a very large amount of choice as to housing on Pemba. Indeed, you will not find no small inexpensive youth hostels. However, I have ranked the best hotels on the island based on their price bracket.
When is the best time to go to Pemba?
Pemba or even more generally the Zanzibar archipelago, can be visited throughout the year. Indeed, located in the Indian Ocean off Tanzania, the island of Pemba enjoys a equatorial climate who is pleasant all year round.
However, it is important to know that there is two rainy seasons in Pemba.
Indeed, these periods are between:
- March and May
- October and November
Be aware, however, that depending on the year the rainy season can be slightly modified so do not be afraid.
For my part, I went to Pemba in April and during my week there it rained only once.
